Introduction
Chef Vending, LLC, which is a family-owned start-up, imports Spanish food & beverage equipment and vending machines. We intend to enter the vending business with high-quality vending machines that are innovative and first to market. We will create our own vending lines in the Southern and Central Florida regions. We plan to supply innovative, high-quality equipment and participate in the $321 million food & drink industry. We anticipate exceeding our financial forecasts due to the formation of a strategic alliance with a nationally recognized brand in one of our vending lines.
The Company
Chef Vending is committed to being the market leader in the introduction of innovative, high quality vending machines as well as restaurant equipment. We will fulfill the needs of every customer by maintaining close relationships with them and building strong customer relationships.
Chef Vending, LLC, is a privately-held Florida corporation and maintains an office and a small warehouse in a mixed-use area of North Miami Beach, Florida.
Three of the four investors are fully responsible for the operation. Mauricio Ordonez and Javier Palmera, the co-founders, have both entrepreneurial and industry experience. Charles Mulligan brings operational management and financial skills to the operation.
The Products
Chef Vending has two product lines to cater to the different markets it serves. Our unique Sandwich Express machine will be available, as well as our Fresh Orange Juice Machine and Multi-line Dispenser. Products for restaurant equipment include toasters, fresh juice squeezers and espresso makers.
Sandwich Express is one of Chef Vending’s most innovative products. It has functions and benefits that are not available in other vending machines today.
We intend to continue expanding our product line. We plan to expand our Sandwich Express line with a larger version that offers more sandwiches and a wider range of products, including pizza. Additional products are still in development.
We are also seeking supplier relationships to large sandwich and juice manufacturers that have national brands. This will allow us to tailor our machines to their products. This would allow Chef Vending, to supply machines for national companies and allow them brand the machines with one of their product lines.
The Market
According to the Automatic Merchandiser magazine’s latest State of the Vending Industry Report. Revenue from U.S. Vending Consumables was $24.5 Billion last year. That is an increase of 4.9%. The market was 5.8% represented by small companies with less than $1million in sales. They were projected to make $1.35 billion. Three quarters of all vending machines are classified under the small category.
Snacks, cold beverages, and other beverage categories make up the bulk of the industry. According to Automatic Merchandisers, the food category saw a 7.7% growth last year. The impressive growth of cold storage machines last year was 42%, which was significantly higher than the rise in shelf-stable products.
According to National Restaurant Association, restaurant revenues will exceed $321 trillion by 2020. This is a large and healthy industry in our economy, and suppliers to this industry are expected to benefit from this growth.
These are all signs that a fast-moving, innovative company can quickly introduce new products to restaurant equipment and vending machine customers to increase their market share.
Chef Vending will market its machines to three distinct market segments including; distributors, branded sandwich and juice manufacturers, and end users. Our restaurant equipment business will focus on hotels and restaurants as well as equipment supply companies.
Considerations for Financial Planning
The company has an initial start-up cost of approximately $157,000 of which $125,000 will come from a ten year SBA loan. A short-term loan will give us an additional $2,500. The rest will be funded by investment capital.
Our monthly break-even point is approximately $93,000, or 27 vending machines. We expect to achieve a higher level of sales due to the attractiveness and functionality of our innovative vending machines. Our first year of operations will see us generate $500,000 net profit on sales of $2.8million.
