Weight Loss Seminars Business Plan

Brushy Mountain Retreat began in one summer when founder Judith Cabot took over an empty dorm at Connecticut’s Johnson Mountain College. Here she began to teach women that diets don&#8217t work. She started a series intensive, one-week workshops to help women understand the fundamentals of building a long term weight management program. The first workshops were limited to four participants each. Brushy Mountain Retreat initially operated as a Summer Program for the first few years. However, its popularity grew quickly by word of mouth and it soon became an all-year program.

Brushy Mountain Retreat oversaw the expansion of its program into a series four-week workshop series that could be taken in one-week blocks or separately. There are now hundreds of alumni. The limit on the number of participants in each session has been increased to 20. The retreat has a six-month waiting list.

Brushy Mountain Retreat has moved into a new building to accommodate the growing program. The new home is a former corporate retreat that overlooks Johnson Ridge and Johnson Valley Golf Course. They are both renowned winter and summer resort areas of Connecticut. The lodge is set on 16 acres and features informal classrooms as well as well-equipped fitness rooms, a spacious dining area, and a comfortable communal room.

In the new facility, program workshop enrollments will double. Up to 40 women can be accommodated in single and double rooms.

The lease is $80,000 per annum.

The financial investment by Judith Cabot, as well as a short term loan, will help to finance the move into a new facility.
